British soldiers with the Royal Anglians moved into an empty compound after coming under fire during a patrol on the outskirts of Kajaki in northern Helmand Province. Since arriving in the region last spring, British troops have lost 64 men in almost daily combat against Taliban forces.

The British Army credits a shift in tactics and an increase in troop levels, including this foot patrol in Sangin, for recent gains against Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province.
